Hunter the Horse!
Hunter has been a busy equine in the community since his debut in 2002. This friendly horse has been seen around town promoting the “Reading and Riding” program. This program, aimed at Kindergarten through fifth graders, promotes reading among children. Hunter visits groups with a human guide who answers questions and encourages the love of reading.
The Chagrin Valley PHA is arranging for a limited number of complimentary public appearances by Hunter the Horse to introduce this program to schools and libraries. During these visits, Hunter and his guide distribute the Reading Round-Up forms that challenge children to read five horse books and earn free horse show tickets and a chance for other prizes. The book list and Reading Round-Up form are both available for download! Hunter and his guide also hand out bookmarks, coloring pages and word puzzles, in addition to reading a horse story to the children. The guide will also answer horse or riding related questions. These visits last about 30 minutes.
If an organization is interested in arranging for a visit from Hunter, we ask for support in promoting the appearance in advance through posters or ads, a display of horse books (we can also provide horse equipment props for displays upon request), or any other creative promotion. If the appearance occurs before July 2010, we are able to offer a number of free horse show tickets for giveaways within your organization.
Hunter at the Classic
The Classic is presented by the Chagrin Valley PHA (Professional Horsemen’s Association) Horse Show, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization headed by a voluntary Board of Trustees comprised of local residents, business leaders and equestrians who run the show with a large volunteer team of more than 200 individuals.
This successful and popular Classic will be held July 9-25, 2010, at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field in Moreland Hills. The organization is dedicated to running an excellent horse show, raising money for charity and educating the public while introducing new audiences to horse sports.
As part of their educational mission, the horse show will be hosting a Family Weekend, July 16-18, featuring carriage rides, arts & crafts, games, face painting, and appearances by Hunter the Horse. His guide may have a story to share with eager young minds!
